Wanker’s Fifty

Ah, the Wanker’s Fifty, a classic move by an inexperienced player aiming for the triple 20 but ending up with a single 20, a single 18, and a single 12, totaling a whopping 50 points. It’s also known as Burgess’ Fifty, probably because someone named Burgess did it so often they named it after him. It’s the darting equivalent of trying to parallel park and ending up on the curb, embarrassing, but hey, at least you scored something.

Wanker’s off

Wanker’s off is the darts world’s way of saying, “Hey, loser, you’re up first next round!” It’s basically the same as Mugs Away, which is just a slightly less cheeky way of telling the defeated player, “Your turn to throw first, champ… or should I say, former champ?” It’s like a gentle roast wrapped in a darting tradition, because nothing says “better luck next time” like starting the next leg with a side of humble pie.

Whale

A score of nine or less, basically, averaging a whopping 3 or less per dart (ouch!). This kind of performance is so famously bad that it’s often commemorated by drawing a whale around the score on the scoreboard. Why a whale? Well, because scoring that low is a huge disappointment and someone’s probably drowning in shame.
