How did your journey in competitive darts begin?
My friend started playing darts again 2.5 years ago and I just gave it a try.
Which achievement in your darting journey has given you the greatest sense of pride?
I recently won my first trophies, my months of work and training have finally paid off.
When you step up to the oche, what brings you the most joy about the game?
Every game is different. Every game starts anew, no matter how good or bad the last one was.

What’s your vision for the future of women in professional darts?
I’d love to see more women competing in tournaments and better representation for women in the PDC as well.
As a woman in sports, how do you manage the intersection of competitive demands and gender stereotypes?
I don’t care about others’ expectations, I play for myself and won’t let them get in my way. As an influencer in this sport, you can’t afford to be influenced.
When male opponents underestimate you, what’s your mental process to stay locked in and make them pay for that mistake?
Anyone can be beaten, man or woman. I always give my absolute best, no matter who stands across from me.

How often do you still encounter that ‘men need the board’ nonsense? What’s your go-to response now?
Not at the moment, but if that moment ever comes, don’t worry, I’ll know exactly what to say about it.
What part of your darting journey do fans and media overlook that you wish they’d spotlight?
I want to see more tolerance in sports, more mutual support, more love and far less hate.
Should mixed-gender tournaments be darts’ standard format, not just occasional events?
Hell yes! That would be absolutely amazing.

Beyond the oche, what fuels your fire? Tell us about the hobbies, causes, or creative outlets that light you up off the boards.
I thrive on creativity, crafting stainless steel jewelry with freshwater pearls, exploring new cultures through travel and soaking up love from our two dogs and cats.
What’s your most hilarious darting facepalm moment? We all have them, make us feel better about ours by sharing yours!
I had 100 left but set my sights on 60. When my turn came, I nailed the 20 and checked out on D20, then immediately cheered, ‘Does that count as a high finish?!’ (Spoiler: No. Because math. It was only 60.)
How can we get more women hooked on darts? And what’s your top advice for a beginner picking up their first set of arrows?
Ladies, take heart! Don’t be afraid to lose and certainly don’t be afraid to win.
No taunts, no boasts, just her Karella 16-gram darts whispering thunk. Sarah lets the scoreboard do the screaming.
